About Doree Simon Hatfield

As Head of Matador Studios at Matador Network, I oversee all original and branded video production and podcasts for one of the world’s leading independent travel media companies, reaching 100M+ viewers per month across broadcast, digital, and social platforms.I lead a global, distributed team of 40+ producers, editors, and creative leads, managing multi-million-dollar budgets across dozens of annual productions filmed on all seven continents. Under my leadership, Matador Studios delivers hundreds of edits annually — spanning cinematic brand films, docu-series, and high-performing social campaigns — for clients including Disney, Jeep, Hilton, GMC, Brand USA, Visit Jordan, Go RVing, Destination Canada, Visit California, Volkswagen, and more. Our work is distributed across Matador’s owned channels as well as client channels, and partner platforms such as Roku, Hearst, and other major networks worldwide.I’ve helped grow Matador from its startup roots into a multi-channel, award-winning content studio, producing branded campaigns, original films, celebrity-driven storytelling, and podcasts while partnering with tourism boards and Fortune 500 brands. In parallel, I’ve architected the studio’s production systems, operational workflows, financial protocols, and contract infrastructure, supporting cross-functional teams across the company and enabling sustainable scale.Alongside my leadership work, I remain an active filmmaker. I’ve directed and produced acclaimed documentaries including 99%: The Occupy Wall Street Collaborative Film (Sundance, acquired by Participant Media) and A More Perfect Union (Tribeca). My short documentary In Her Shoes: India received the 2020 Webby Award for Diversity & Inclusion. My current feature documentary, Gentle by Birth, explores the intersection of personal loss and public health through the lens of America’s overdose crisis. The film is complete and currently in the festival submission phase. It follows my journey after losing my younger brother to a fentanyl overdose, examining stigma as a barrier to care and the systems that shape recovery. Based in Pittsburgh, PA
