About Doreen Bartoldus
I have led a successful and rewarding 45-year career in the construction community and am now transitioning to a new role where I can focus my efforts on specific personal goals where I can be the most impactful. My career has followed an upward path from working for construction contractors to engineering firms in ever increasing roles of responsibility and executive leadership. During this path I recognized the need to help others succeed as I had, and focused on mentoring and sponsoring women in particular, through my involvement in the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC)Concurrently I also became active in the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA). My activity in the CMAA included achievement of my CCM and local board participation as the Director of Professional Development where I led the and taught the CMCI Professional Construction Management Course (PCM Course). I also enjoyed a four-year tenure teaching Project Controls to CM Masters Students at Stevens Institute of Technology. I remain connected to many of my students from that time. My primary focus over the last 25 years has been developing and leading successful construction management teams, delivering major water/wastewater construction projects from proposal development to final completion to the benefit of my clients. These projects range from $1 million to $1.4 billion in construction value, each project with its own challenges and opportunities. I led diverse teams and stakeholders, and on each project worked to both help my staff learn and grow their skill sets as well as work with the project stakeholder to overcome obstacles to obtain a positive project outcome for all. My current goal is to continue to give back to the construction community. Utilizing my technical skills developed while working in the industry I can assist in Value Engineering, Constructability Reviews, Program and Project Management planning, proposal development and dispute resolution/partnering. I also want to share my passion for mentoring and sponsoring individuals in developing their careers in the industry (especially women) thru speaking engagements and/or development of internal programs for companies wanting to further tap into this diverse and talented workforce.I am at my best when I am able to share my story and my skills for the advancement of others who are also passionate about construction project delivery!
