ABOUT DON VINCE

Passionate, energetic, fun Developer, Team Leader, System Designer and Certified Scrum Master. Creating elegant solutions, learning and sharing. Driving initiatives to improve the wider system sustainability with unit testing, automated builds and solid release engineering.My computing life started at the age of 10 when I started programming on a Commodore 64, eventually learning how to create graphics that bounced around the screen. I remember designing 24x21 sprites on graph paper, treating the bits as binary, adding up to decimal, coding and then having my picture rendered onscreen, great fun!Now I regularly attend technology presentations (e.g. Goto conference, Thoughtworks, AWS, StackOverflow DevDays, CodeKen and various meetup.com groups) and love learning about new technology and the best ways to solve problems. Every week I meet with a small group of friends to discuss designs, practices, recent learnings at a group we call “geek meet”.Outside the world of technology, I play bass guitar in regularly performing bands. I love to travel, see the world and make friends whilst enthusiastically attempting beginners phrases in the local languages. I enjoy photography, on one occasion I took over photos in a day, the result was a stop motion music video. I happily take part in interesting sounding events to raise money for charities: most memorably, I’ve walked hot coals and climbed (the steps of) the gherkin.I was recently made redundant due to the business unit moving to an offshore supplier. I’ve spent the time since learning on pluralsight. I’ve passed a Microsoft Certification exam for ASP.NET MVC and attended various conferences and training.
