About Donnie MacKay
At Michael Baker International, we provide architectural engineering services for a diverse set of customers including national laboratories, the Department of Defense, the federal government, private industry, municipalities, and commercial customers. We offer all relevant disciplines including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, interior design, planning, and fire protection consulting to develop innovative and efficient designs in the pre-conceptual, conceptual, final, and construction phases of projects. As the National Electrical Engineering Lead, I am responsible for leading a team of over 60 electrical engineers, designers, and drafters spread around the country who execute complex and high-quality project designs. My responsibilities include developing client relationships, developing project fee proposals, setting quality and performance expectations, and creating a culture of growth and opportunity.My background includes experience with many aspects of electrical and control system engineering including electrical, lighting, industrial controls, and fire alarm design. I perform design calculations, system analysis, modeling, and create specifications for a variety of systems that support the mission of our customers. We also provide arc flash studies with coordination and protection. I am proficient with AutoCAD, SKM, and AGI32.During my time at Control System Technology, I was involved in designing, building, installing, and providing support for all types of control systems in many different types of industries including mining, water/wastewater treatment, and food processing among others. While at Kennecott Utah Copper, I was an electrical engineer on an $800 million project to build a molybdenum refinery. My responsibilities included reviewing and redlining P & ID’s and electrical drawings, overseeing construction, managing contractors, and promoting safety. This project taught me about power distribution, process control, construction and contractor management, and project engineering. My bachelor\'s degree is in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah and I am a licensed Professional Engineer in Control Systems Engineering in the States of Idaho, Maryland, and New York. My master\'s degree in Engineering Management is from the University of Idaho.
