About Donna Daugherty
I’m a nonprofit strategist and communications leader with over two decades of experience guiding organizations through change, growth, and opportunity. In my work, I’m especially interested in how leadership, money, and governance intersect—and how well-intentioned systems can quietly work against the people inside them. Much of my perspective comes from having held responsibility inside organizations navigating real constraints, not theoretical ones.I’ve held leadership roles across development, grant strategy, and organizational messaging — always with a focus on helping purpose-driven teams move forward with clarity and confidence. My experience spans local nonprofits, statewide foundations, and higher education institutions. I’ve led development efforts, built stewardship programs from the ground up, and supported executive teams through complex transitions. At the University of Texas at Austin, I served in Corporate & Foundation Relations for the Cockrell School of Engineering and co-founded the university-wide DEIB committee for advancement professionals, serving on the executive team for five years.Currently, I lead a small consulting practice, D2 Philanthropy Partners, where I partner with mission-driven organizations and philanthropic leaders to develop fundraising strategy, strengthen messaging, and navigate transitions. I also continue to serve in an executive leadership capacity with a Central Texas-based youth development organization.Above all, I believe in calm leadership, creative problem-solving, and relationships built on trust.“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”— Arthur Ashe
