My current duties include mentoring a junior writer, providing technical editing, and serving as the documentation lead for two major projects. I am also the lead for the style guide team and the FrameMaker template team, and I work with a translation vendor to acquire translations for firmware and documentation. I am an advocate for our end users and have influenced the design of some features on our products as a result. I am an expert in Adobe FrameMaker (unstructured but set up with structured in mind), and am experienced in Adobe Illustrator, Creo Illustrate, Adobe InDesign, and Microsoft Word. I have worked in Adobe AEM to upload PDFs for our web site. We are currently working toward writing in XML/DITA in the AEM interface, so I have been providing input on templates and usability as well as learning to write in that environment. My passions for my job include driving consistency between documentation across the company. Although internal tech support is not officially part of my job, I field questions almost daily on Adobe FrameMaker, PDF issues, grammar, and nearly everything else. I can visualize what a user is having issues with and recommend solutions even when I am not at my computer or in the same software. In my 18+ years of working for Zebra, I have created countless manuals and documents of my own and edited a virtual mountain of content for others. I work with hardware, firmware, and software teams to create kit instructions, User Guides, Service Guides, Quick Reference Guides, and Setup Posters for barcode printers, RFID printer/encoders, wireless print servers, and other products. These deliverables ranged from PDFs that could be hundreds of pages long to two-sided printouts that are entirely wordless.
