ABOUT DONNA ZUIDERWEG

Authenticity. Strategy. Community. With over 20 years of experience in cultural and civic organizations, I’ve learned that real impact starts with values—and grows through relationships. As an executive leadership team member at Columbus Metropolitan Library since 2019, I’ve had the privilege of collaboratively leading nearly 900 employees across 23 locations with a $120MM budget, and guiding diverse teams in Marketing & Communications, Development, Government Relations & Advocacy, Events, and Human Relations. Every day, I get to work alongside passionate people who believe in the power of libraries to transform lives.I’m proud to be known as an authentic, values-based leader who drives success through innovation and strategic partnerships. Whether it’s building relationships with nonprofit partners, donors, elected officials, or the media, I believe in fostering collaboration and setting progressive strategies that move organizations toward long-term goals. Before rejoining the library, I served as SVP of Community Engagement at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, supporting strategic growth across the Zoo, the Wilds, Zoombezi Bay, and Safari Golf Club. Fundraising has been a cornerstone of my work—establishing and growing a foundation and securing millions for capital projects and initiatives—and I was honored to be named Outstanding Professional Fundraiser by AFP Central Ohio in 2019.I hold an MBA from Ohio Dominican University and a BA from The Ohio State University, and I continue to serve locally and globally through roles with San Jose State University’s iSchool, the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA), and as Chair of the ADAMH Board of Franklin County.I’m passionate about community, service, skilled in board relations, fundraising and stakeholder engagement, and committed to leading with clarity, empathy, and purpose. Here’s to the power of community—and the people who make it thrive.
