As Director of University Counselling, I lead the university/academic counselling process for Grade 12 students. Beginning in the Grade 11 year, I guide students with their academic choices to align with post-secondary goals. I am knowledgeable of IB and Ontario program & graduation requirements, as well as emerging trends in university admissions. As a member of Ashbury\'s Academic Committee, I offer input on certain strategic leadership decisions regarding academic programs, planning, and policies. Daily Responsibilities: individual counselling to students; present information to student/parent groups; guide/support students with key academic decisions (i.e. course selections, pathways, best-fit university); identify universities, programs, & scholarships; advise students re: admissions requirements; communicate information re: university visits, open houses, deadlines, & other current/key information; provide application feedback; write counsellor reference letters; facilitate the writing & review of teacher references letters; upload/transmit academic documentation; review student results; flag academic concerns for follow-up action; confer with colleagues to ensure students are supported.Big-Picture Responsibilities: establish calendar of events for the University Counselling Office (i.e. presentations, workshops, university visits, campus visits, fairs); produce informative presentations to share with students/parents; foster working relationships with university representatives; oversee the preparation of academic documentation for applications; present graduation statistics/highlights to the Head & Board; prepare graduate information for Closing; prepare the School Profile; support the organization of Closing prizes; provide leadership & guidance to other colleagues in Academic/University Counselling; ensure academic documentation is accurately noted in accordance with legislation and policies; assist with the facilitation of College Board testing.
