About Donna Boni
I just left SouthLight Healthcare and opened up a private practice in Durham, NC specializing in substance use disorders, trauma and co-occurring disorders. This is exciting and challenging. Of course, it\'s only been a week at this point (11-4-14) but the experience of going from a 60 person client list with the hustle/bustle and stress of a busy \"corporation\" to the pace of a new practice is a bit disconcerting. I will be offering outpatient therapy to adults and adolescents, working in partnership with a fellow clinician who has been heading up an adolescent outpatient program at a major university for over 25 years. Our client\'s lives are often not what they wish. They may be struggling with addiction, depression, anxiety, past or present trauma and need someone to talk to, someone who will listen, not judge, someone who wants to help them find a way to a better life. I subscribe to the wise words of Viktor Frankl:\"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.\" I strive to create a trusting relationship with my clients, which is the foundation that allows a successful outcome. I have been a substance abuse and mental health therapist for over five years. My life experience and maturity enables me to better understand the needs of my clients. Training in CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy allows me to use the best approach for clients. Recovery is a process designed to integrate goals with values, allowing our clients to begin creating a healthy, meaningful life with the purpose of transforming and improving their relationship with the world.
