ABOUT DONGYI CHUN

Android EngineerAs a software engineer with over 10 years of experience, I have worked on various projects that have expanded my skills and interests. While I initially started in backend development, my interest in Android grew with the rise of smartphones. Concurrently, I became involved in developing mobile-related projects. Alongside my primary role, I initiated the development of an Android application as a personal project, achieving millions of downloads and high ratings on Google Play. This experience sparked my interest in joining startups.At SwiftKey, a British startup, I supported Samsung in delivering the company’s core technology to their flagship devices during the initial years. After spending several years with the company, I had the opportunity to work at the company’s HQ in London. Following that, the company was acquired by Microsoft, providing valuable insights into the startup world, growth, and acquisitions, not just from a technical standpoint. Throughout my time at Microsoft, working with world-class colleagues and participating in small to large projects was a invaluable experience for my career and also for various aspects, including technical or soft skills.I later led the development of a new concept for a platform in an early-stage startup. I successfully delivered the proof of concept product, which expanded my knowledge of setting up a project from scratch and broadened my tech stack with various languages, tools, and platforms.Returning to mobile app development, I had the opportunity to use my Android tech stack to contribute to JLP’s Android application. While the initial focus was on iOS, there was a desire to boost Android customers as well. In this context, I proactively applied modern Android practices, making significant improvements to the Android codebase, relevant tech stacks, such as CI/CD, tools, and working methodologies.Throughout my career, I’ve remained committed to pursuing and developing innovative and impactful projects. I believe my experiences make me an asset to any team, and I’m excited to continue contributing to the field of software engineering.
