Investigated primary source historical records such as Sima Qian\'s Shiji to explore the emergence and the boundaries of selfhood to propose alternative understandings of the modern/contemporary human self, using postmodern theoretical frameworks on semiology and narratology to structure literary analysis of ancient texts.
