AN ALTERNATIVE PATHAt an early age I knew I was going to law school. However, a funny thing happened on the road to a legal career. I discovered I did not have a passion for the practice. I enjoyed the study and discipline of law and it provided me many valuable tools such as critical thinking and communication skills. The most valuable outcome is it set me on the path to helping people solve problems and achieve their goals.My passion for finance started young. My grandmother worked in finance and I was fascinated by the industry. When I was in college I knew I was going to law school so my choice of major was not critical. Signing up for classes my sophomore year the line for my political science major was long. Being impatient, my eyes wandered the room and I noticed that the finance line was shorter. My impatience and my fond memories of conversations with my grandmother talking about finance provided the motivation for me to move from one line to another and I switched to finance. Call it the impatience of youth, dumb luck, or some other guiding hand but taking that fork in the road has provided me joy to this day.BUILDING SOMETHING TANGIBLEI have always enjoyed the tangible quality of real estate; creating something that wasn\'t there before. As an executive and CFO for real estate companies, I help turn the concepts into reality. A goal or aspiration without the proper structure, story, and financing is unlikely to get off the page.
