I have extensive experience in the heavy haul freight railway industry in Canada, the USA and overseas. I am currently a Regional Senior Investigator for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada - Railway/Pipeline Investigations Branch. In 2017 I successfully earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Railway Operations Management from Glasgow Caledonia University, Glasgow, UK. Most recently, in 2019 I completed Train the Trainer Certification from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s School of Business, located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I was in Saudi Arabia in 2013 working for the Saudi Railway Company as a Locomotive Traction Instructor on the new north south railway line. At CN Rail, I delivered the Student Locomotive Engineer training course. I managed their on-job training and certified them as locomotive engineers. I was also responsible for overseeing train handling policy compliance in my territory. Prior to CN Rail, I was working as a contractor for the Union Pacific Railroad to provide classroom and on-job training in Remote Control Locomotive operation in the USA. In December 2001 I went to Kosovo for sixteen months. My position was an United Nations Volunteer - Railway Specialist, participating as a team leader managing the daily activities of the UNV Train Drivers, assisting in the day-to-day operation of the “Freedom of Movement Train”, and helping to rebuild the railway system in a post war environment which had many duties, including, planning, training and implementation of key strategies.
