ABOUT DONAVAN PAUL ROCHER

My previous international teaching career has spanned over 15 years in the diverse fields of: Communications, English as a Second Language, Sociology, and Sustainability Studies. Lecturing has afforded me the opportunity to live and work in a multitude of locations in both Asia and the Middle East. In addition to my international living experiences, I have been fortunate to study in and travel to many countries. While lecturing in Sustainability, I was inspired to pursue a more in-depth understanding of this topic within the fashion industry by enrolling in the Masters joint program in Product Sustainability Management offered by the Milano Fashion Institute and Politecnico di Milano University, Bocconi University, University Catholica del Sacro Cuore. Milan is the ideal city for the pursuit of this particular focus of study due to the prominence of Italian fashion brands and textiles in the global fashion industry. The privilege to be able to experience events such as: Milan Fashion Weeks, Milan Design Week, and MICAM exhibitions while pursuing my Masters degree has afforded me with the unique chance to see conceptual ideas that are discussed in the classroom be utilised by real world companies. The fashion industry is now evolving with many companies aiming to develop both circular products and sustainable practices. I look forward to contributing to this rapidly changing industry as it evolves to minimise its environmental impact, and to create a more circular and inclusive ‍ economy.
