ABOUT BARRY JACKSON

Barry Jackson has experience in a variety of mediums and grassroots tactics in order to affect change and inform others. Currently at AARP for nearly 20 years, he formerly worked for the Lance Armstrong Foundation (now Livestrong), the American Cancer Society and the Tennessee Medical Association (TMA).He was elected to the Rockville City Council in 2023 for a four year term.Professional Experience: A government relations and communications professional with almost 30 years of experience. He enjoys creativity and seeing results in executing events and cross-channel campaigns through collaboration and management of staff, volunteers and external consultants. He is experienced with volunteer management, coalition building, public speaking, legislative strategy, legal strategies, grant management and crisis management. Relevant Volunteer Experience: Twice elected President of the King Farm Citizens Assembly (KFCA), a large HOA with approximately $3.0 million in annual revenue and large reserves. Saw the Assembly through the COVID pandemic which was unprecedented and required maximum flexibility and communications. A member of the Rockville Area Village Exchange (RAVE) board which acts as a support for grassroots volunteer Neighbors Villages around Rockville. He is a member of the Scholarship Committee set up to help State Senator Cheryl Kagan vet many worthy scholarship candidates.He has been a volunteer for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association - serving on two committees. Most recently he is the Co-Principal Investigator for an PCORI-funded study to determine if stroke survivors can be treated at home with as much or more successful outcomes than in an in-patient facility.
