About Donald Cartwright

Don is a structural engineer with diverse experience in the inspection, load rating, rehabilitation, and design of bridges. He has served as the lead bridge inspector for numerous inspection projects of varying sizes and structure types, including movable, cable-stayed, high level steel girder, fracture critical box cap, suspension, segmental concrete box girder, large truss, rail, and other difficult access bridges requiring SPRAT rope access and technical climbing techniques. Don has worked on city, county, and state owned bridges and ancillary structures throughout several states. In addition to inspection, Don has prepared plans for numerous bridge repair and rehabilitation projects and has served as engineer of record for new bridge designs including design-build projects. He is also experienced in detailed analysis involving three-dimensional finite element modeling to determine causes and conceptual repair alternatives for complex problems found on bridges, particularly related to fatigue-sensitive details and cracking. Don is registered as a SPRAT Level certified rope access technician.
