I am responsible for coordinating automated decision support efforts within the EMR. Those things can include automated allergy, drug-drug interaction warning, drug-food interaction warnings, customized decision support rules, running queries of the EMR and analyzing those data for trends, etc. With my background as a clinical pharmacist, my efforts are usually concentrated in the area of medication safety, CPOE including complex chemotherapy regimens, integration to the pharmacy information system, integration to the electronic medication administration system, and understanding how all of those systems tie together.

Clinical Pharmacist between 1985 and 1997 in a pediatric oncology setting. Managed total parenteral nutrition as well as fluid and electrolytes, pharmacokinetic consultations including targeting of chemotherapy drugs based upon serum concentrations, clinical investigator, highly skilled in pain management. Join the Clinical Informatics group in 1997. Since then, I have concentrated on implementing Cerner\'s EHR system concentrating on medication safety, integration between CPOE, Pharmacy applications, eMAR, and clinical decision support (allergies, drug-drug interactions, dose range checking, large numbers of custom rules). We have implemented personalized medicine custom alerts based upon pharmacogenetic test results within the EHR to interrupt prescribers when drugs affected specifically by that patient\'s known phenotype are being ordered.
