ABOUT DOMINIQUE SMITHSON
Highlights> Textiles & Surface Pattern Design trained. Inspired by Art & Design of all platforms. A passion for pattern, colour, textile, shape & form. Work experience with several designers of different specialisms - lighting, homeware, fabric book sampling/exhibition prop design/exhibition set-up, carnival costume embellishment, retail visual merchandising> I have worked in Fashion/Homeware Retail - charity chic - high-end luxury. Experienced in visual merchandising, customer service, pricing, payment plans/store cards selling, stock management, wallpaper/fabric project calculations & cash handling.> I have worked in Care/SEN Education industries supporting vulnerable, complex needs adults/young people for the past 9yrs. I incorporate my artistic skills into the support I provide to vulnerable learners & service users. I am looking to progress into teaching my specialism, in a SEN Educational setting and/or train to become an Arts Therapist. Alongside this, my aim is to continue to be inspired by Art & Design, to fuse any designs I may create and to improve my skillset in Textiles. Equally, my dream is to work full time, designing for the Textiles/Fashion market.
