ABOUT DOMINIQUE MATTHEWS
I am a junior at Santa Clara University double majoring in Political Science and Art History, with a strong interest in legal issues and a goal of becoming a lawyer. In my recent experience supporting the General Counsel at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development North America, I worked on both administrative and substantive legal matters, including attending meetings, synthesizing key takeaways, and tracking action items. I conducted research on confidential R&D and legal topics and contributed to executive-level analyses and presentations on issues such as ADS liability, Delaware corporate law, vehicle voice control, NHTSA regulations, California employment law, free and open source software, GenAI, and emerging AI-related risks. Outside the classroom, I compete as a Division I rower, balancing 20 hours a week of training and competition with my academics, which has strengthened my discipline, resilience, and ability to perform in high-pressure environments. I enjoy engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and value perspectives that challenge and expand my thinking. I am always open to connecting to discuss law, sports, or where the two intersect.
