About Dom A.
Views and endorsements expressed are my personal views and do not represent the DoD, Air Force, or Air Force Academy.**I am an attorney at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) legal office focusing on policy and military justice. I also serve as a Reserve Judge Advocate assigned to Davis Monthan Air Force Base. In addition to focusing on oversight of military justice at USAFA, I have a strong interest and skillset in Sexual Assault Prevention & Response (SAPR) and inclusive policies and education. In that capacity, I have partnered with colleagues from the AF Academy\'s SAPR office and Athletic Department to develop curriculum and educate intercollegiate athletes on developing skills for healthy interpersonal relationships. I have also co-authored the Safe to Report policy and service academy dependency policy, both of which received positive Congressional and media attention. Most recently, I began serving as the co-chair of USAFA\'s Transgender Working Group and legal advisor to the Women\'s Initiative Team (WIT) focusing on breaking down barriers and achieving a culture of inclusion for women and the LGBTQ+ community at USAFA. In addition to providing legal counsel, I am an adjunct professor at USAFA, where I developed and teach an upper-level legal studies course - Sex & the Law, which focuses on the role of gender, sexuality, gender identity in criminal law and constitutional law. In 2023, I also received my Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certification from Cornell University. I separated from active duty in 2014 and relocated to Colorado Springs from Charleston AFB, where I served as the Senior Defense Counsel for the Charleston region. I have specialized primarily in criminal law/military justice, but am also passionate about teaching, leading, and mentoring. I am licensed to practice law before military courts and the Supreme Court of Illinois and Colorado. In 2022, I was named to the Board of Directors for Inside Out Youth Services. I live with my wife Ash (Principal of Village Middle School) and dog, Ally. We love everything about the outdoors, mountain biking, snowboarding, trail running, good beer, craft coffee and enjoying delicious food.
