Building an online application has never been easier—but building one that is scalable, maintainable, and cost-efficient is another story. Traditional architectures built around a central RDBMS and a constellation of microservices have reached their limits in terms of performance, operational overhead, and true elasticity. Yet these patterns persist, not because they are the best choice, but because many teams cling to familiar mental models.As a software architect, I prioritize understanding the problem space before proposing solutions. Too often, technical teams rush to implement what they know instead of stepping back to analyze what is actually needed. I prefer to lean on proven expertise from industry leaders—Amazon’s Rick Houlihan being a key example—to apply modern approaches such as DynamoDB-centric design, event-driven systems, and serverless workflows.I believe in leveraging the full power of cloud-native ecosystems: S3 with Athena for low-cost analytics, Lambda and Step Functions for scalable workflows, API Gateway and CloudFront for resilient global delivery, AWS WAF for integrated protection.
