ABOUT CHRISTOPHER CALLAGHAN
I am a year 1 core surgical trainee working in NHS Lothian. This is themed in general surgery and includes rotations in general surgery, colorectal surgery, vascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery.I have completed a BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences, MSc Human Anatomy, and MBChB Medicine at The University of Edinburgh.My clinical experience includes completion of the Specialised Foundation Programme in South-East Scotland with rotations in general medicine, oncology, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery and colorectal surgery. I also conducted a 4-month research block working with Dr Ben O’leary\'s research team in the Institute of Cancer Research (London) carrying out a pilot study investigating the role of genetic evolution in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas and how this could impact radiotherapy resistance.I aim to apply for ST3 General Surgery. My current research interests include the use of liquid biopsy technology in colorectal cancer.
