She is also affectionately known as the Superwoman Complex expert and has written 2 best-selling books on the topic, and most recently published The Healthy Kidney Handbook with Ulysses Press in June 2025. With her company, Swiner Publishing Company, she helps authors become best-sellers, from start to finish. She loves taking care of the family as a whole, with interests in Minority Health, Women’s Health, Self-Care and Female Entrepreneurship. She attended Duke University and went to medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. She’s lived in the Triangle (Durham, NC) since finishing college at Duke University, completing residency at UNC-Chapel Hill and now teaches as an Adjunct Associate Professor with the Family Medicine department. She speaks nationally or on media, freelances for WebMD and teaches others to self-publish. She has become one of the nation’s experts on self-care, imposter syndrome, physician burnout and well-being-How to Avoid the Superwoman Complex is both a labor of necessity and of love for Dr. Swiner, as she started writing shortly after residency and starting her practice as a family doctor. The writings soon developed common themes, such as the importance of preventive health and of self-awareness as a way to prevent illness. After 7 years, she dreamed of putting all of her common sense medical advice into book form. And thus, How to Avoid the Superwoman Complex was born. The superwoman (or superman) complex is the false belief that one person can be all things to all people, perfectly. It can have devastating effects—emotionally, mentally and physically. In September 2016, she became an international best-selling author on Amazon for her 2nd release, The Superwoman Complex: A Follow-Up Visit.
