About Dheeraj Raina
I am a physician leader with over two decades of experience designing and leading integrated mental health and addiction care across rural, urban, private, and public healthcare systems, and at a large national payor. My early career in rural Wisconsin shaped my approach to leadership: practical, iterative, and grounded in real-world constraints. I helped implement collaborative care models, built a nursing home psychiatry practice, and co-developed a dementia diagnostic clinic with the University of Wisconsin.Currently, at Elevance Health, I work at the intersection of behavioral health, medical economics, and system transformation. As the company’s first addictions SME, I lead initiatives focused on reducing the clinical and financial burden of substance use disorders, with projected savings exceeding $80M by 2026.In parallel, I am a Toastmasters District Champion and World Championship semifinalist, specializing in leadership communication. I help clinician leaders to communicate with clarity, build trust, and inspire aligned action. My interests include leadership development, psychological safety, integrated care models, and communication as a core leadership competency.p.s. Views my own.
