About Giovanni Nelson

Giovanni A. Nelson, ND, is a leading provider of comprehensive, patient-centered naturopathic care. As co-founder of Healing Duo Integrative Family Medical Practice in Norwalk, Connecticut, Dr. Nelson specializes in a holistic, noninvasive approach to a wide range of chronic and acute conditions. He uses holistic naturopathic medicine and advanced diagnostics to relieve patients from the root cause of their medical concerns. Dr. Nelson attended Stony Brook University in New York, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Developmental Genetics. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Nelson went on to the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine in Connecticut, where he earned his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine with honors, graduating summa cum laude and as a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. During his clinical rotations, Dr. Nelson experienced a broad spectrum of patient care, from pediatrics to geriatric medicine. In addition to his work at Healing Duo Integrative Family Medical Practice, Dr. Nelson has provided care in a number of settings. He was a team member at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where he supported patients and their families through radiation treatment. He has a particular interest in the areas of natural pain management, family medicine, herbal medicine, and clinical nutrition. When he isn’t in the office, Dr. Nelson continues to pursue the highest quality of care for his patients. He is a current member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians as well as the Connecticut Association of Naturopathic Physicians. In his free time, Dr. Nelson enjoys mountain biking, amateur photography and spending time with his fiance.

   Taught Master of Nutrition courses: Clinical Biochemistry and Pathophysiology of Disease.Developed curriculum for asynchronous online courses for future and current health professionals. Planned lessons and assignments, led discussion sections, and graded papers and exams.Used instructional technology to facilitate distance learning and create an interactive learning environment.Executed learning lectures in the asynchronous learning environment. Educated students on best practices for interpreting and utilizing results from both functional (Organic, Fatty, and Amino Acids) and conventional labs to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficacy.
