Thesis work on high-fidelity experimental aeroacoustic characterisation of aircraft leading edge slats, aiming to quantify effects of construction details on acoustic performance of real aircraft.Designed (CAD) and built high-lift device models for wind tunnel testing, installing instrumentation and performing surface preparation.Prepared and performed anechoic wind tunnel tests, including surface pressure measurements, particle image velocimetry (PIV), and phased microphone array data collection.Renovated anechoic wind tunnel inlet contraction, improving test section flow characteristics in subsequent recharacterisation tests. Post-processed data into relevant results for presentation to UTIAS research assessment committees and stakeholders at Bombardier Inc, providing assessments of acoustic and aerodynamic performance.

ABOUT DANIEL FOSTER

I\'m pursuing my Master of Applied Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies, having graduated with honours from the Engineering Science program at the University of Toronto in Aerospace Engineering. In my research at UTIAS, I\'m working on designing and evaluating quieter aircraft slat devices. As a Compressor Aerodynamics co-op student at Pratt & Whitney Canada, I performed CFD benchmarking as a part of in-house code development. I\'m committed to advancing technologies on the cutting edge of aerospace and automotive applications, with a passion for solving difficult problems.
