ABOUT DAVID LANG
I am an international hotel executive with experience in a variety of disciplines—operations, asset management, consulting, feasibility and development. I am most proud of my record of successfully implementing change in organizations, for which I have been rewarded with promotions and other accolades. At the Radisson Hotel Group in Belgium, I was asked to set-up the Asset Management department, with a clear mandate to re-negotiate existing, onerous lease contracts. Within three years, our negotiations added €13 million in annual EBITDA. For this and other achievements, I was promoted in 2011 and twice selected as Colleague of the Year. At Starwood Hotels and Resorts, I took over the feasibility department, and oversaw all analysis for new hotel projects across Europe, Middle East and Africa. My team of seven associates undertook market and financial analysis to ensure project viability and protect the company’s interests. I implemented several new initiatives to streamline the process and created a training curriculum. I also oversaw the integration of the department to Marriott, following the takeover. Finally, in 2016, I joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in London and established the new Portfolio Management department in the EMEA region. The department was focused on supporting our pipeline projects and portfolio occurrences (commercial issues with our existing hotels) by leading the core teams, ensuring internal alignment on key issues, and escalating concerns/solutions to hotel owners and the Executive Leadership Team.Following my success setting-up the department in London, I was promoted to VP and transferred to the Toronto headquarters. I was then promoted to Senior Vice President, giving me oversight of all global Portfolio Management activities and a team of seven spread across three offices. My other noteworthy jobs include operations (with Hyatt in Atlanta), and as a hospitality consultant in Dubai where I had the unique opportunity to advise on some of the region’s most ambitious real estate projects during the boom years of 2004-08.I have been a featured speaker at Cornell University, the Four Seasons General Manager\'s Academy, and Starwood’s Vita Futura internship program.
