DMITRY OLEYNIKOV is a board certified Minimally Invasive General Surgeon and Robotic Surgeon, As Chair of Surgery, his mission is to improve quality outcomes for surgical patients, create value in healthcare and surgical utilization and support the amazing surgical faculty.He received his education at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and surgical residency at University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Dmitry Oleynikov served as a Senior Fellow at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He has been a full time faculty as UNMC from 20••••19.Dr. Dmitry Oleynikov was an active investigator and researcher at University of Nebraska College of Medicine for the past 18 years. He published over 200 peer reviewed articles, and over 250 abstract presentations, 25 patents in the area of surgical robotics and surgical outcomes research. He had continuous external funding for the past 18 years, totaling over $60 million. The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons has recognized him for his achievements with an award in Excellence in Leadership and he served on its Board of Directors and currently serves as Chair of Robotics Committee. His collaboration with Dr. Farritor on the use of miniature robots for general surgery is internationally recognized as a disruptive technological change to robotic surgery. Their technology has been featured in multiple journals as well as on CNN, Wired Magazine and The Economist. This has led Dr. Dmitry Oleynikov and Dr. Farritor to found a startup company designed for commercialization of miniature robots for surgical applications named Virtual Incision Corporation with Angel and Venture capital investment.
