About Morriss

D.L. Morriss concentrates his practice in commercial litigation with emphasis on financial workout and debt recovery claims, complex commercial foreclosures and receivership, UCC litigation, commercial landlord and tenant disputes, and corporate management disputes. D.L. has successfully defended and litigated claims for limited liability company minority members against majority members; and negotiated lease agreements between nationally recognized arts organizations. In addition, D.L. mentors and manages a team of mid-year and incoming associates on his matters. D.L. also serves as the firm\'s Diversity & Inclusion Partner where he is responsible for cultivating the firm\'s culture in a way that encourages and supports diversity. D.L.\'s duties include providing leadership, strategic planning, and oversight of firm wide diversity and inclusion activities in the areas of recruiting and retention, pipeline development markets, communications, external relations and partnerships, events and sponsorship. D.L. oversees the Diversity & Inclusion department and serves on the firm\'s Associate Hiring Committee, Hinshaw University\'s Planning Committee, and the Diversity Committee.Civic engagement is also very important to D.L. He serves as a board member with The Joffrey Ballet, Leadership Greater Chicago and Breakthrough Urban Ministries. D.L. was a 2016 Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago and an Emerging Leader with the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
