About D K Shivakumar
Politics has always been about staying close to people and understanding their lives. From my early days as a student activist in the Indian Youth Congress, I have learnt that leadership grows through patience, perseverance, and personal engagement. From grassroots politics to serving as Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, my work has been guided by listening, trust, and accountability. As an eight-time MLA and President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, I focus on practical solutions that improve daily life, expand opportunities, and strengthen communities. In government, my aim has been to implement policies and programmes that enhance social and economic well-being for all. At the same time, strengthening the Congress Party, keeping it united, responsive, and rooted in people’s needs, has been a constant priority. The Five Guarantees reflect my belief that governance must be compassionate, fair, and inclusive. For me, politics is not power, it is service. My aim is a responsive Karnataka where every village feels connected and every city works better for its people.
