About Daniel Walter
Director of Project Delivery for TerraPower’s Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE). MCRE is funded under the DOE ARDP Risk Reduction award and will be sited at INL. MCRE will be the first fast spectrum molten salt reactor and will collect key data to reduce risk in support of the MCFR technology development. I’m used to being on a very steep learning curve, while delivering results and moving a highly complex, parallelized project forward. I have a unique combination of experience:• Experience in initiating a FOAK advanced nuclear project that has advanced into Detailed (Final) Design and construction of a full-scale, non-nuclear, electrically heated plant (prior to the nuclear experiment).• Experience in development and implementation of custom engineering processes and workflows.• Experience in navigating the challenges (reporting, procurement) of a public-private partnership.• Experience in carrying design, experiments, and testing in parallel.• Experience in initiating and managing multi-year supplier design and fabrication contracts.• Familiarity with NQA-1, including Software Quality Assurance (SQA), qualification of data, and Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) of hardware/components.
