As a Support Manager for supported living, I lead a team dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centred care to six males in their 50s, each with varying degrees of learning disability. My role is to create an environment where they can live fulfilling, independent lives while receiving the care and guidance they need.I oversee all aspects of the service, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while focusing on compassion and dignity. This includes managing tailored care plans, promoting autonomy, and fostering meaningful community connections. By collaborating with families, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams, I ensure individual goals and preferences are respected and supported.A key part of my role is cultivating a culture of accountability and excellence within my team. Through regular supervisions, team meetings, and hands-on training, I empower staff to prioritise person-centred care and approach challenges with creativity. Trained in psychologically informed environments and motivational interviewing, I integrate these approaches into leadership and support to achieve better outcomes.I also manage day-to-day operations, including rota planning, budgeting, and health and safety compliance, creating a structured yet adaptable environment. From promoting daily living skills to organising recreational activities, my team and I enrich lives and provide opportunities for growth.My approach as a Support Manager is rooted in empathy, integrity, and a commitment to inclusion. Supported living should be more than a service—it should be a partnership that empowers individuals to thrive while ensuring families and teams feel valued and inspired.
