ABOUT DIYANA NOORY

I’m a lawyer with expertise in copyright, digital governance, and AI ethics. I combine legal training, a creative background, and experience in regulatory development, brand stewardship, and impact assessment. I have a proven track record of delivering high-stakes mandates with public-facing accountability. I\'m passionate about crafting governance solutions that balance technological innovation with ethical considerations and the public interest.As Copyright & AI Counsel at Creative Commons, I serve as a subject matter expert leading internal research, analysis, and strategy development, as well as public-facing communications and education.At Canadian Heritage, I translated complex technical issues into clear policy recommendations and built consensus among diverse stakeholders.I hold a Juris Doctor and a double major in Arts and English Language and Literature from Western University. I\'m especially interested in media and entertainment law (I have a major soft spot for music), the transformative potential of emerging technologies, access to justice, and intersectional community building. My work experience spans legal research, policy analysis, music journalism, photography, creative direction, editing, client services/sales, event planning, social media marketing, and more. Across all these spaces, I\'ve had the chance to connect with brilliant people to solve interesting problems.
