ABOUT DIYA MITTAL
Human is the most complicated machine in the world and the brain is the most complex part- Diya Mittal What intrigued me since childhood is how different people behave differently in exactly similar situations. I always used to notice how some family members and friends behave very differently. Though I never knew about work psychology at that age, observing and analyzing people around me has been a childhood hobby. I am glad to introduce myself as Diya Mittal, a BSc psychology graduate from the University of Leeds. My father, uncles and most of the family members are into business. My father is a manufacturer and importer of garments. I observed the impact of people in his business since childhood. The family dinner discussions were mostly around various employees in his business and how different people contribute differently. Initially, I used to find the different approaches of employees very amusing but as I grew older and was introduced to work psychology, I was able to place the observations in the logical scheme of things. During my badminton matches, I always used to win the mind of my opponent before anything else. What strikes me more than anything else about the field is how broadly applicable its studies are to so many areas of life, in some ways all areas, given that all we really have is our consciousness. In many ways, our well-being as individuals dictates our well-being as a group, both on the small-group and societal scale. This all encouraged me to pursue my higher schooling in the humanities stream with psychology as one of the core subjects. During my 2 weeks study tour to the United States of America, I observed and appreciated the diverse cultural sense. During my time at the University of Leeds, I was a highly driven and calm person who took part in several extracurricular activities. I managed all aspects of my life including social, personal, spiritual, professional and physical by maintaining my schedule in a way that I prioritised tasks of utmost importance and upcoming deadlines first. University was a life-changing experience in my life because living away from home taught me to solve problems independently, appreciate differences and manage my time and finances in an adequate manner.
