About Diya Hafiz
As a final year B.Tech student in Life Sciences at Atria University, I am fascinated by the applications of bioinformatics and data science in understanding complex biological systems. I aspire to pursue a career in this field and contribute to solving real-world problems. Last summer, I had the opportunity to work as a summer intern at University of Jammu, where I conducted microbiome analysis of Crocus sativus rhizosphere using 16S rRNA metagenomics. This experience enhanced my proficiency in Linux OS, QIIME 2, and data representation, as well as my research and analytical skills. I also learned how to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and communicate my findings effectively. Besides academics and research, I am passionate about spreading compassion and kindness in the world. I serve as the head of the Charter for Compassion chapter at Atria University, where I lead various initiatives to promote empathy, social justice, and interfaith harmony among the students and the community. I am a hardworking and motivated individual who believes in smart work and discipline, as well as in lifelong learning and growth. I am interested in working on projects with peers and mentors who share my passion for Life Sciences and bioinformatics.
