About James Dixon

Since 1997, Jim has helped business owners and individuals anticipate and manage risk and resolve disputes on construction projects and as a part of real estate transactions. Before work begins on a construction project, Jim can prepare the construction contracts needed to appropriately define the parties’ relationships and the risks each is willing to take, including key warranty, insurance, and indemnity provisions. During the project, Jim can advise owners, contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals on how to manage risks and resolve problems and disputes. For disputes that cannot be resolved by the parties, Jim can effectively and efficiently represent a party’s interests through mediation, arbitration, litigation, and the appellate process. In the residential arena, Jim assists families and individuals as they work with builders to construct a new home or modify their existing home. He also assists those who have purchased a home that is defective or otherwise does not meet their expectations. He can also help those who have purchased an existing home and discovered undisclosed defects. He has represented residential contractors in similar disputes, disputes with developers, and disputes with subcontractors or suppliers. Jim also serves as an arbitrator of disputes through the American Arbitration Association.Jim is proud to have helped construction companies and design professionals resolve a variety of issues while completing noteworthy projects. In particular, he has enjoyed helping green contractors as they develop a new market. He has formed new business entities and prepared construction contracts for noteworthy green residential, commercial, and public construction projects, including those involving solar energy.
