Specialist Water (Climate & Sustainability Strategy) @PwC India
Gurugram, IN
Currently working as a Specialist within the Climate & Sustainability Strategy competency in PwC India’s Advisory practice, supporting organizations in achieving Water Neutrality Certification in alignment with NITI Aayog guidelines. I deliver beyond-the-fence solutions by leveraging watershed-scale hydrological modelling using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). Based on model outputs, I identify high-priority intervention locations and develop data-driven strategies to optimize water usage and offset consumption, enabling clients to achieve net-zero water balance while aligning with sustainable water management practices and policy frameworks.

ABOUT DIWAKAR SARAN
Water Resources Engineer with a Master’s degree in Remote Sensing & GIS (specialization in Water Resources) from the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS–ISRO) and 1.5 years of professional experience across hydrological, watershed management, and sustainability consulting projects.Currently, I work as a Specialist within the Climate & Sustainability Strategy practice at PwC India, supporting Water Neutrality engagements for corporate clients. My role involves delivering beyond-the-fence solutions through watershed-scale hydrological modelling, translating model outputs into targeted, data-driven interventions that enable organizations to achieve net-zero water balance in alignment with NITI Aayog guidelines.Previously, I served as a Project Associate at the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee, contributing to the Farakka–Sunderbans Link Project. My responsibilities included hydrological assessments, field data analysis, and preparation of technical reports for government-funded water resources initiatives. My technical expertise includes SWAT-based watershed modelling, streamflow forecasting using CMIP6 climate datasets, and geospatial analysis using ArcGIS, QGIS, and Python. I bring a strong foundation in research, stakeholder coordination, and technical documentation, with a focus on applying hydrological modelling to Water Neutrality projects, watershed management, and sustainable water resource planning.I am interested in hydrological modelling–driven projects focused on Water Neutrality, watershed management, and basin-scale water systems analysis, particularly roles that apply data-driven approaches to support sustainable water resource planning, climate-informed decision-making, and policy-aligned water management initiatives.
