To those that know her, Christina Mallas is referred to most simply and affectionately as \"Dirty\". Although that name may be misinterpreted at first, she will proudly tell you this is how she prefers to be addressed.\"Savannah raised me, Brooklyn schooled me.\" This is what the native Georgian says when asked about her moniker (and subsequently the name of her company)\"Dirty Souf Yankee\". She continues,\"You can\'t get fresh until you get Dirty!\"; her personal slogan. The way Dirty sees it, you have to put in lots of work before you can finally reap the rewards of your labor, and she is no stranger to paying dues. Known for making the biggest celebrities look great during their shows and capturing their most intimate moments, these same celebrities themselves will tell you, you truly can\'t look your best, or \"get fresh\", until you get (hire)\"Dirty\". With Grammy award winners like Melanie Fiona and Miguel singing her praises, it\'s not hard to tell why Dirty has become one of the most loved and well respected photographers in Hip Hop & R&B. From shooting names at the top of the charts such as Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj, to those on the verge of stardom like Ro James and BJ The Chicago Kid, or legends such as Naughty By Nature and Wu-Tang (and everyone in between) she has amassed an extensive archive of photos in her 15 years as a professional photographer that would make most seasoned vets jaws drop.
