ABOUT DIRK SCHREIBER
I am known as a thought leader with proven history of success, accredited by developing fundamental principle “HSE isn\'t only about compliance issues, it\'s about keeping oneself and others safe from harm and securing one’s quality of live”.I learned the fundamental principles of occupational safety and change management in Shell in the late 90th when the methods developed there were state of the art (e.g. Hearts & Minds). I also had the pleasure to apply these methods on a global scale working virtually. In the early days of Offshore Wind in Europe and Germany I moved on to an offshore construction company and later to an offshore WEC-developer to integrate HSE processes into daily operations. During this (short) period of 10 years the offshore wind industry evolved from a \'Wild West approach\' to a process driven one, and the jobs - despite the unreal and harsh conditions – turned to be safe for employees based on standardized HSE driven processes. For this remarkable development the aspect of safety culture is one of the most significant contributors.Due to a request and the idea of transferring the experiences from the offshore wind industry to the largest renewable infrastructure program in Germany - SuedLink - I moved on. However, it turned out that these experiences could not be transferred due to different safety cultures of the companies involved and a lack of management commitment. This was the ignition spark to develop the concept of the Safety-Culture-State-Review.Currently I am supporting a large pharmaceutical entity that fully supports the cultural aspect of EHS improvements as one of the key drivers for operational performance improvements.
