ABOUT DIPTARGHA CHAKRAVORTY
Dr Diptargha Chakravorty has over 10 years of experience in the field of power system analysis, including a 4-year PhD on the impact of demand response on system stability from Imperial College London. His core expertise includes power system stability analysis including dynamic, electromagnetic transient (EMT), and small-signal analysis. He has been involved in several innovation projects as a technical lead such as the Probabilistic Stability Assessment NIA project which is focusing on developing advanced system planning tools for the UK System Operator NGESO using cutting edge machine learning and statistical methods. He has been involved in the flagship NIC project ‘Distributed Restart’ as a technical specialist developing restoration strategies for Black Start from Distributed Energy Resources. He is highly skilled in several power systems analysis tools like DIgSILENT, PSS/e, PSCAD, Matlab/Simulink and IPSA including automating power system studies using different programming languages. Diptargha also has experience in teaching and mentoring and delivering bespoke power system training courses. He has good communication skills and enjoys multi-tasking. He is a visiting researcher at the Control and Power group of Imperial College London and working on joint proposals for European Union research funding grants. He is a member of the Cigre C2/C4.41 and B4.92 working groups on the impact of high penetration of inverter-based generation on system inertia and STATCOM operation in distribution networks, respectively.
