About Dion Harris

My experience in property management, particularly within the Student Housing Industry, spans more than 11 years and reflects a proven record of leadership, innovation, and success. I have managed over 1,200 beds and led teams of up to 25 employees, all while maintaining operational excellence and cultivating positive resident experiences.In my current role as both an Area Manager and Director of Learning and Development, I am responsible for the complete development lifecycle of every employee, from hire to promotion. This includes hiring, onboarding, training, mentoring, and advancing team members across all departments. I design and facilitate comprehensive workshops and training programs that strengthen core competencies in every facet of property management, including leasing, maintenance operations, marketing, customer service, and leadership development. My focus is on equipping employees with the skills, confidence, and tools they need to excel and grow within the organization.Having worked my way up from Community Ambassador to General Manager, I bring a firsthand understanding of the demands and opportunities at every level of property management. This journey has shaped my approach to leadership, one that blends empathy, expertise, and strategic thinking to build high-performing teams and thriving communities.Beyond my corporate role, I am also deeply engaged in advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the industry. I proudly serve as the vice Chair of the DEI Committee North Carolina Apartment Association’s DEI Board, championing equitable opportunities and inclusive leadership across the housing industry.I believe real leadership starts with learning, and that investing in people is the best strategy for lasting success.
