About Dino Samartzis
Dino Samartzis is a Professor at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rush University in Chicago. He has been involved in the forefront of multidisciplinary spine research worldwide for the past 25 years, having published over 450 articles in peer-review journals (eg. Lancet, Nature, Cell, JBJS, Arthritis & Rheumatism etc) and book chapters. An editor of nearly 30 books and journal theme issues, and > 25 instructional videos, Dino’s main focus has remained with spine degeneration and pain. He has received approximately 80 awards for his work, which has been highlighted in documentaries, journal covers, encyclopedias and in over 250 media outlets, and is regarded as a leader in his field worldwide. He has developed mentorship programs that to date have benefited over 400 students. He has worked and collaborated with the WHO and United Nations, and served as the elected Chair of the International Research Commission and member of the International Board of AOSpine, a member of the Executive Board of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS), and as the Chair of the Orthopaedic Research Society’s (ORS) Spine Section among other leadership roles. Dino has also chaired/organized/hosted several spine conferences/meetings/symposia/workshops worldwide (e.g. Canada, China, Belgium, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Hong Kong, Singapore, USA, etc.) and international webinars.
