About Diego Suazo de Rosa
I\'m an undergraduate senior at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, majoring in Aerospace Engineering.Currently, I am a part-time EE Technical Designer at Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company. This role comes directly after finishing an internship at MSS as a Systems Engineering Intern, in which I contributed to multiple small-sat programs. Some roles at my internship, which carry on to my part-time job, include discrepancy report and JIRA ticket management, MBSE netlist modeling, document review and management, requirement-to-artifact linking, budget analyses and requirement derivations.Prior to that, I was the Project Manager for the Michigan eXploration Laboratory\'s SPEAR project - which aims to have stratospheric payload autonomously steer towards a designated location using servos and a paraglider. Over two years, I had worked in various research labs and twice interned at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center - mainly working on Attitude Determination and Control Subsystems, more specifically software and mechanical design in regards to ADCS. Skills that I\'ve developed include; coding in Python, C++, C#, Arduino IDE, and MATLAB; extensive knowledge of Solidworks, Finite Element Analysis, and Mechanical Drawings and design; development of software structures for ADCS sensors; Kalman Filters and PID controls; GitHub and version control; formal documentation of science and engineering work; and satellite operations. I also have vast experience working with magnetometers, their usage, characterization, and calibration. Beyond my technical experience, I also worked as a repair assistant at Wilson Fine Violins, a luthier store in which I repaired instruments and attended to customers and schools in the metro-Detroit area. I also volunteer at the Leslie Science and Nature Center, where I have been trained as a raptor feeder. There, I prepare a rodent-based diet for owls, vultures, hawks, and eagles that call LSNC home due to their inability to being released into the wild due to physical or mental trauma.Other interests of mine include graphic design - I am comfortable using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator - and playing the violin, which I studied for 13 years during grade school; winning various awards and performing with the Detroit Symphony Youth Orchestra for two years, while also being concert master of the Dearborn Youth Symphony. I also run a non-profit website, which aims to raise awareness for endangered vulture species, as well as increasing accessibility to organizations that directly help them around the world.
