MEChA is a grassroots organization dedicated to empowering Chicanx and Latinx students through advocacy, education, and community engagement. Established in the late 1960s, MEChA focuses on promoting cultural pride, social justice, and political activism within the Latinx community, particularly on university campuses. MEChA de Yale also engages in New Haven-based community advocacy efforts, such as Unidad Latina en Accion (ULA) to provide mutual aid for undocumented migrant workers in the city.Through our commitment to social justice and community empowerment, MEChA de Yale continues to inspire and mobilize students, organizing events, workshops, teach-ins, and discussions that address issues such as immigration rights, educational equity, and systemic racism.
