ABOUT DIANE LARSEN
I am currently the Digital Design System Manager at the UK’s largest grocer, Tesco. I have built the design system from a visual style guide to some maturity: components mirrored in Figma, React, Swift UI and Jetpack Compose, documentation, contribution and governance models, design coaching and support. One of my biggest successes is that the DDS now underpins design approach at Tesco, and adoption is embraced across all platforms and business areas from customer facing to enterprise and in-store users. I have a background in brand, visual and UI design which led me to work in agencies, startups and large organisations. I value creativity, connectedness and freedom, and I believe design systems help me live that daily through problem solving, collaboration and freeing designers and engineers from repetitive tasks, so they can focus on what really makes an impact – the user experience.
