About Diane W. Kinsella

From tragedy to “living the dream!” How I did it - and you can, too! It was 11 PM when the smoke detector sounded. Which one was it? After what seemed like an endless search, my husband found it: our 2-year old’s room was engulfed in flames, our son covered in soot. Thus started my journey. 557 days later, we were back in our home, after what seemed like an endless parade of challenges to meet our basic needs, tear down/rebuild, and maintain healthy family relationships. However, there were also people who reached out to offer support in ways that never would have occurred to us (nor would we have ever asked). There were beautiful days, glimmers of sunshine and hope that we would be made whole. There were lucky “coincidences,” too many to count. Once I started trying to make meaning of the experience, I began a career reflection process that led me to the role I fill today. As I captured bullet points, in five-year increments, of the key events in my life, I discovered:what I truly disliked and would never, ever want to dowhat an ideal day/week would look like in my lifethe golden thread that tied together all the elements of who I am some interrupted dreams [yes, I did want to be a teacher at some point] and driving motivators, what gets me up out of bed every. single. day.I went back to school for a master’s degree in Spiritual and Pastoral Care. I understood that I needed a way to take all my life lessons and use them in service to others. Taking that first giant step of applying set the rest of my life in motion. Almost 15 years later, I am still doing what I was created to do: facilitating coaching and support groups that empower others to make similar life transitions, recover from harmful experiences, and live into the person they want to be. You, too, can do it! Let’s connect to explore how Journey to Hope and I can support you into being #YourBestSelf! d••••••••@jtoh.org or

Experience

  1. CEO of Journey to Hope

    Journey To Hope

    Jan 2008 — Present · Cincinnati, US

My work of the past three years has been to convert the Family Life Center, a ministry of Northminster Presbyterian Church, into a new nonprofit called Journey to Hope. The challenge has been to keep the program thriving while taking on new responsibilities, without any additional staff. We are now positioned to grow in ways we have previously only been able to imagine. Key accomplishments for 2016 include: Growing our reach to 464 people, who came from 55 zip codes, making us a regional center of support for life transitions. 20% of our members participated in more than one group or program Offering 45 support and coaching groups, which are divided into 4 categories: emotional, spiritual, physical and financial Exceeding our fundraising goals for the year Improving our members’ psychological capital [hope, resiliency, efficacy and optimism], thereby creating an Economic Impact in our Community of $1.3 Million. As we look to the future, we are eager to take our programming “on the road” by collaborating with other organizations and improving the psychological capital to the tune of $1.5 million in 2017.
