College Operations Officer, Hcc Coleman College for Health Sciences (Current) @Houston City College

I\'ve held various leadership positions at Houston Community College System. I began my career as a teacher and continued as a counselor. My career then spanned into administration, from Assistant Dean of Students, to College Operations Officer. In 2003, the Chancellor/Board of Trustees requested that I serve as Interim President for HCC Southeast College. After completing the assignment, I resumed my role as COO at HCC\'s Coleman College for Health Sciences. I helped separate this campus from Southeast College, thus creating the only unique health sciences community college within the Texas Medical Center. Founded in 2004, Coleman College confers associate degrees & certificates in 19 health science fields. As the only community college in the TMC, the college provides unsurpassed access to world-renowned health science resources, with rewarding futures. As COO, I am a member of the College President’s Management Team, responsible for a variety of budgetary and campus operations. I work collegially with the President, the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Planning, Executive Director of Finance and Budget Controls, Executive Director of Purchasing, Chief Facility Vice Chancellor and the Talent Engagement Team to ensure sound strategic planning. I report directly to the College President and have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Vice Chancellor, Finance and Planning. I work collaboratively with our cabinet to manage the college\'s budget, college contractual leases, program cost analysis, capital improvement planning, etc. As COO I connect closely with the college’s employees, students, & community and district departments. I am lucky to work with Chancellor Cesar Maldonado as we continue to transform HCC to better serve students & our community. We are completing our new state of the art Health Sciences Tower with a beautiful connecting bridge from the current facility into the new facility. Grand opening scheduled January 2018, stay tuned, it\'s beautiful.
