About Diana Ilie

My parents gifted me a doctor\'s kit when I was a kid. I always provided the best medical care to all my stuffed animals, and that’s when I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I am a senior at Furman University, studying biology and music on the pre-med track. I intend to graduate in May 2025, followed by a gap year for professional development and medical school. I spent the past few summers volunteering at a hospital and developing an individualized research project. Direct patient interaction has encouraged me to refine my social skills, such as empathy and active listening; undergraduate research has encouraged me to develop further my technical skills, such as organization and attention to detail. Although I feel strongly about healthcare, I engage in unrelated activities/hobbies that I call \"constants\" in my life. As a CliftonStrengths ambassador, I thoroughly enjoy understanding behavior patterns associated with our natural talents (oddly specific, I know). I subconsciously apply my top five talents (Intellection, Input, Focus, Achiever, Discipline) to all aspects of my life. I have also played cello for the past ten years through large and small ensembles, solo performances, freelance gigs, and even travel music. I also enjoy reading, especially thrillers and historical fiction, hiking with my dog when he doesn\'t bark at strangers, cooking, and cooking only when the recipe is two steps long! I value opportunities to demonstrate and improve my diverse skill set. Although I intend to become a physician, I am actively exploring all medical career paths.
