WORK HISTORY
Event Organizer and Member @Hindu Yuva
Urbana, IL, US
As a member of the Events Team for Hindu YUVA at UIUC, I helped plan, organize, and execute some of our organization’s largest cultural and community-building events. Over the semester, I contributed to creating inclusive spaces that brought together hundreds of students from diverse backgrounds and deepened awareness of Indian culture and Hindu heritage on campus.I helped lead the planning and logistics for multiple large-scale events. This included organizing a campus Ganesh Puja at the Vivekananda House (where I also reside), as well as MyGanesha at the Illini Union—a major event featuring classical Indian performances and an interactive clay Ganesha-making activity that drew several hundred attendees. I also coordinated our Garba celebration with a professional DJ at the ARC and supported our Diwali event in collaboration with BAPS Campus Fellowship. One of the most meaningful projects I worked on was Coexist, a showcase event designed to bring together RSOs from different faiths—including Design UIUC, the Sikh Student Association, and Hillel—to encourage interfaith understanding and dialogue. Helping run this event strengthened my communication, partnership-building, and community engagement skills.I also assisted in organizing a week-long set of activities for Hindu Heritage Month, which included a Diwali puja, a classical music workshop with SPICEMACY, and an awareness booth on the Main Quad with rangoli, trivia, and cultural giveaways.Across all these events, I developed hands-on experience in event logistics, outreach, vendor coordination, cultural programming, team collaboration, and creating welcoming environments that celebrate tradition while fostering campus-wide inclusion.
