About Dhruvil Ashokkumar Shah
Copyrighted © Content Skills practiced on daily basis-> Basic construction engineering - Design of simple shear and moment connectionsHigh level examples:i) Shear Connections: Single plate, double angle, end plate connections, etc.ii) Moment Connections: Directly welded connections-> Advanced construction engineering - Connections requiring detailed force analysis and more design checksHigh level examples:i) Moment Connections: Bolted flange plate moment connections (one/two sided connections with equal or unequal member depths on each side).ii) Vertical Bracing Connections: Bracing connections which require the force analysis per uniform force method (UFM) or kiss method. A typical brace joint would include a design of brace-to-gusset, gusset-to-beam, gusset-to-column and beam-to-column Horizontal brace connections to brace the structure in the horizontal plane/plan view.iv) Connections with complex geometry and/or custom member sizes (e.g, plate girders) which included proper analysis of load path and thorough engineering of each connection component.v) Erection engineering: Providing means and methods, i.e. procedure for erection of structural members which includes design and analysis of temporary bracing members.vi) Retrofit engineering: Analyzing existing structural steel framing (specifically connections) to compare their capacities with the new or updated load demands and provide necessary retrofit options to stiffen up the framing-> Miscellaneous metal design:High level examples:i) Stair design (stringer, flight & platform headers, landing pans, landing deck if required, platform angle/channels and, their respective connections to supporting members and/or base structure).ii) Rail design (guardrail, handrail, infill rails, pickets, posts, etc.)-> Review of prequalification record (PQR) and weld procedure specifications (WPS) using AWS D1.1 specifications-> Managing project timeline by submitting deliverables/calculation packets and responding to RFI\'s on timely manner-> Answering and educating other junior engineers by providing them with detailed explanations on engineering designs-> Software/Applications: Revit (2D drafting), AutoCAD (2D drafting), Tekla Structures (for viewing the geometry), RISA, Ram SBeam, MS Excel, and Word.Copyright © Dhruvil Ashokkumar Shah
